Dry Dock Brewing Co. asked Condit to design and build a custom exhibit for the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). This premier beer event in Denver, Colorado captures the city’s attention October 2-4, 2014.
Condit designer Matt Wolf drew inspiration from Dry Dock’s nautical theme and whiskey barrel aged brews. He was also inspired by the can of Dry Dock Hop Abomination that he sipped while creating the design on his computer. “It’s funny how creative one can get after sipping down ten IPA’s,” Matt sarcastically recalls. On a more serious note, Matt recounts, “I’ve been a fan of Dry Dock for a long time, so it was really satisfying to work on a project that directly relates to something I take interest in.”
The front surfaces of the bar are faced with staves from whiskey barrels. A mast and flag with a custom shaped chalk board are supported by a barrel as well.
Condit Production Supervisor, Larry Harnois broke open the whiskey barrels, cleaned and finished the staves, and arranged them in a weave-like pattern. He found special dental cleats to attach the staves to the custom counter.
This project became a labor of love for the Condit team and the result was a truly inspired creation.
