Condit’s construction of eight unique chalet structures for spectators at the 2013 America’s Cup and Louis Vuitton Cup is complete.
The structures are located at Marina Green, next to San Francisco’s iconic St. Francis Yacht Club. In addition to being just thirty feet from the ocean, the Chalets are right on the starting line of the America’s Cup race!
Condit partnered with America’s Cup Event Authority (ACEA) and the direction was defined well before construction began in May. The structure’s primary deck is an expansive 225’ by 60’ situated on a slope with the highest point over 7’ off the ground. The viewing deck, just below, covers 225’ x 8’. With a custom touch, both interior and exterior decks are carpeted.
The entire structure’s dimensions are 225’ x 32’ x 18’ with glass walls along the front and sides. The eight chalets each have their own front and rear entrances, with steps and ADA ramps up to the deck. The structure utilizes generator power for interior and outdoor lighting, and perhaps most importantly, a 32 x 200’ roof graphic!
The history and prestige associated with the America’s Cup meant that Condit needed to design and build chalet structures and temporary structure in environments that didn’t feel temporary. Like our other structures on San Francisco Pier, these structures not only provide an exceptional guest experience, but also create high-end, luxury, and retail environments that fit the overall atmosphere of the event.
