How To Budget for your Trade Show

 

Learning to budget for, well, anything is tough! But if your professional New Year’s resolution is to create a budget for your company’s next trade show, don’t panic – here are eight quick facts and tips for building a smart trade show budget in 2015.

 

  • The industry average for the investment in a new custom exhibit is $150-$200/sq.ft

  • Place show service orders by the discount deadline to save 30%

  • Consolidate your exhibit freight to avoid the 200lb drayage minimum and small shipment handling fees

  • According to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR), about 1/3 of the total show budget goes towards securing the actual floor space in the hall

  • Exhibit dismantle should take approximately half the time of the installation

  • Budget $2,000-$2,500 per booth staffer to cover the costs of air travel, ground transportation, hotel, etc for a standard 3-day US show

  • The average exhibit house mark-up on show services is 26% (EDPA 2012 Survey)

  • New York City is the most expensive city for exhibiting
